Tribal members have been integral to the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon since the events began. Members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation—the Umatilla, Cayuse, and Walla Walla Tribes—host the grand village of more than 300 teepees, which comes to life once a year.

Since the 1910 Round-Up, the annual teepee village has brought families together to celebrate a long-standing tradition and Tribal culture.  Indians from other Northwest tribes travel to Pendleton, Oregon, to join the village and participate in the Pendleton Round-Up week.

Village of Past and Present is a tribute to Tribal participation in the Round-Up and Happy Canyon festivities. Its features include vivid photography that showcases the rich history of the encampment as well as the present-day village.
